AGM Notice, Strathcona Parks and Playground Redevelopment Society

The Strathcona Park and Playground Redevelopment Society (SPPRS) is having its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, May 24, from 7-9 pm, 10139 – 87 Avenue.

The SPPRS has been in existence since 1999 and has been an active participant in many projects in the City of Edmonton, but especially in the Old Strathcona area.  It was the society behind the Tubby Bateman Park Redevelopment in 2002; it provided the funds to allow completion  of the Big Miller Sculpture on Tommy Banks Way; and it has contributed significant funds to other projects that have occurred from time to time in the community, including the donation of funds for the Queen E. Pool's diving Board, and for enhanced features for the spray park  outside the Strathcona Centre Community Hall.

In order to fulfill our commitments in the community, we do need the participation of members, specifically board members. It is difficult to achieve great results without great people.

Please consider joining our society and becoming a member of the board. Contact SPPRS President Mildred Thill at using the link below, phone 780-430-3602, or any current board member, if you are interested or have any questions.

Expected time commitment varies depending on position, but meetings last approximately 90 minutes,  monthly if needed, though approximately 8 times per year plus any associated board work-  Typically for instance, the secretary would need to spend an additional half hour putting minutes into electronic form, and sending them out to members, after a meeting.

Upcoming projects may include park and playground redevelopments such as
  • Tipton Park  Redevelopment
  • Other Playgrounds identified  for redevelopment
  • Community Garden Installations
  • Queen E Park Redevelopment
  • What are your ideas?
